This certificate of achievement provides a focused course of study for students in preparation for careers in the field of CAD Design. Emphasis is placed on the use of CAD software to complete projects in engineering, manufacturing, or related fields.
Coursework involves the preparation of CAD projects and 3D models accomplished within a design environment as experienced in higher levels of engineering education and is common workplace conditions.
To acquire the Certificate of Achievement in Engineering Design Technology: CAD Specialist, it is necessary to complete the following courses:
10
The goal of this Certificate is to focus the education of students preparing for higher levels of engineering or product design education or for employment as designers in engineering firms. Students who have completed the coursework for this Certificate will have strong skills in utilizing CAD to accomplish and complete projects.
In the ACEDD department's efforts to better align our pathways with specific employment opportunities, we identified a variety of associated courses and brought these to our most recent Industry Advisory meetings. The intent of these efforts and the proposed coursework was discussed and enthusiastically approved. Additional discussion was held between the industry professionals who are part of our instructional faculty with direct knowledge and experience of the needs of industry as related to students with specific coursework completed. Such discussions allowed us to identify the specific group of courses applicable to this proposed Certificate.
