Engineering Technology is the field of study that requires the application of scientific and engineering knowledge, methods, and technical skills in support of engineers and other professionals. Engineering technologists use engineering principles, physical sciences, basic physics, mathematics, surveying, materials testing, computing, fabrication, technical documentation, specifications, and engineering reports. The Engineering technology field differs from traditional engineering in that more emphasis is placed on mastering the application of technology. The Engineering technician or technologist is trained to effectively used established methods. Students who plan to major in Engineering Technology at Mt. San Antonio College should consult a department faculty member. This certificate can be obtained within a year, will provide students the ability to specialize in discipline specific training of their choosing, and will lead to entry level positions as engineering technicians in numerous disciplines
83 completers based on data from related coursework.
1. an ability to apply the knowledge, techniques, skills, and modern tools of the discipline to narrowly defined engineering technologyactivities;
2. an ability to apply a knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering, and technology to engineering technology problems that require limited application of principles but extensive practical knowledge.
This certificate has been designed to incorporate 18 units of the college-level coursework needed by an entry-level engineering technologist.
