The Retail Management Certificate is a nationally recognized, college program developed by retail industry experts to prepare retail employees for positions in management. Students who complete this academic program gain the knowledge, skills, abilities and confidence that empower them to become successful leaders in retail and service oriented companies.

The Retail Management Certificate was developed by the Western Association of Food Chains (WAFC) and is additionally recognized by the National Grocers Association and Food Marketing Institute as preparation for employees seeking management opportunities in the retail sector.
This program is a series of 8 courses that can be completed in one year (for a full-time student) and is industry recognized by the Western Association of Food Chains (WAFC).
Six of the 8 courses were already offered at Cuesta College in the Business Education division. The two additional courses were created and one of the courses (BUS 285: Human Resource Management) will be a replacement requirement in the Management Specialization and Certificate to replace an less demanded course.
This series of courses is industry recognized as appropriate to prepare employees for the challenges of retail management.
