Students develop the computational design skills to optimize systems, production, manufacturing, sustainability etc. as well as setting up and conducting experiments for research and development firms, and design analysis. Students will be competent in MATLab and Simulink software as well as applying both the sciences and art of computing to design problems.

At this point during students education, they may be interested in applying for research, apprenticeships, advanced level internships, manufacturing optimization or careers in computational methods/statistics. This certificate will allow such students to demonstrate to prospective employers their proficiency in computational design fields.
This certificate is designed to be given after a students 2nd year at community college. A students is planning to transfer to a UC or CSU after their 3rd year at a community college. This certificate shows students have a background for scientific research, tests, writing reports, reading/following procedures, and modeling data with MATLab and Simulink Software. With this knowledge and certificate, students will be competitive when applying as a research assistants, internships, etc. This certificate can help a student in the following ways:
Work in an environment they are pursuing and gain engineering experience
Increase hourly wage to reduce hours and to help focus on school
If students do not earn a bachelors, this certificate shows what knowledge and skills they do have to be hired full time.
