TheTelemetry Technician program prepares students with the necessary skills toseek entry-level employment in hospitals (Patient care area, centralizedtelemetry center), offices of physicians, outpatient care centers, diagnosticlabs, and all other ambulatory healthcare services. Upon successfulcompletion of the Telemetry Technician Program, the student will qualify forthe national telemetry certification examination and work as an entry-level TelemetryTechnician.
A Low Unit Certificate of Achievement is awarded upon completion of all required courses with a grade of Pass.
We anticipate that we will have 30-40 students completing the program annually.
Occupational
The program covers the foundational and essential workforce skills necessary to work as telemetry technician or telemetry monitoring technician hospitals, clinics or other healthcare facilities. The program curriculum is designed to meet and aligns with current labor market and employment needs. Successful completion of this program will allow students to apply for roles as entry level telemetry monitoring technicians, telemetry technicians and/or EKG technicians.
The proposed telemetry technician program will comprise a two-course sequence of 8 units.
HLSC 112 – EKG Technician – 4 Units (Existing Course and Occupational Skills Certificate offered at Pasadena City College.
HLSC XXX –Telemetry Technician Course – 4 Units
