This degree is designed to teach the fundamental knowledge and skills needed for today’s Broadcast, Cable, Web, and other forms of digital media news productions. Students prepare for writing, editing and producing radio, television, and other forms of digital media news and news feature programs. The Associate Degree will prepare students for career advancement in this field. Appropriate course selection will also facilitate transfer to a four-year college or university in film/television, communications, broadcasting, journalism, or digital media arts. Possible transfers are to four year universities such as CSU, UC, and private universities such as Chapman University and USC. Employment opportunities include audio/video technicians, camera operators, producers/directors, writers, editors, and a plethora of other audio/video support staff for all forms of digital media news productions.

The program serves to meet the labor market and educational needs of students and professionals seeking employment in the Radio/Television and digital media industries. Our program is vetted by an annual Advisory Board comprising experts in the field of radio/television, film, and other digital media production fields which allow us to tap into the needs of the LA Basin community labor force, and align our program courses to sync with the industry needs
