The Retrofitting California Urban Gardens Certificate of Specialization is designed to provide formal training for individuals interested in transforming new and existing landscapes into water-wise sustainable gardens. This program provides students with entry-level working knowledge of the skills and resources they will need to design sustainable landscapes.

The Retrofitting California Urban Garden specialization certificate prepares students in the areas of critical thinking, design, and visual communication for entry level employment as a landscape/garden designer that have a strong background in sustainability as well as the ability to pursue industry certifications.
Entry-level career opportunities specializing in retrofitting gardens for water-wise design: such as in landscape design firms; plant nurseries; garden centers; building contractors; real estate developers; garden designers (urban, community,residential design); homeowners; sales and design of sustainable outdoor site furnishings.
