Catalog Description:
The Associate of Science in Registered Nursing Program at Lassen Community College prepares the graduate to practice as a registered nurse. The Lassen Community College nursing program meets the minimum degree requirements for the Associate of Science degree. The Associate of Science degree in nursing is awarded upon successful completion of the curriculum and the student will be eligible to apply to take the National Council Licensure Exam for Registered Nursing (NCLEX-RN) leading to licensure as a registered nurse.
Program Requirements:
Program applicants must be accepted as a student at Lassen Community College. Program applicants must complete all required prerequisite courses with no less than a cumulative GPA f 2.75 in all college courses and no less than a grade of 'C' in any prerequisite course work. Prerequisite course work may only be repeated one time. Students must also complete the Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS TEST) developed by the Assessment Technologies Institute (ATI) with a minimum grade of 62% within two years of applying to be considered for admission into the program. Applicants will also be required to meet all program clinical competency requirements.
Program Student Learning Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of the nursing program students will be able to:
PSLO 1 - Participate as a member of an interdisciplinary team to utilize the nursing process in the provision of holistic patient-centered care.
PSLO 2 - Employ scientific and evidence-based knowledge in response to alterations in health and wellness to guide actions which promote holistic patient-centered care.
PSLO 3 - Demonstrate critical thinking skills that support the nursing process.
PSLO 4 - Safely provide competent and confident care both individually and in the team setting.
PSLO 5 - Display therapeutic communication techniques with a diverse patient population and healthcare team.
Enrollment:
Thirty students will be enrolled every two years. Students will be selected based on an equitable selection criteria.
Program Goals:

30 students every2 year
This is a 2 year program, 30 students will earn an associate degree in nursing every 2 years and will be prepared to complete the National Council Licensure Exam for Registered Nursing (NCLEX-RN).
Provide the highest quality per-licensure nursing education to fully prepare students to successfully complete the National Council Licensure Exam for Registered Nursing (NCLEX-RN) and enter the workforce as competent and confident nurses.
