The Real Estate Appraisal Certificate is designed to provide students with the required competencies to enter careers in residential and commercial real estate appraisal. This program is intended to prepare students for the California real estate appraiser license exam, certified residential exam and certified general exam. Citrus College appraisal courses are approved by the California State Bureau of Real Estate Appraisers (BREA) for basic education. Upon competition of this certificate, students will have 135 hours of basic appraisal education.
Annually, it is expected that 25 students will earn this certificate at Citrus College.
To prepare students for employment as a Real Estate Appraiser, in one of the following careers: Trainee Appraiser (AT), Residential Appraiser (AL), Certified Residential Appraiser (AR) or Certified General Appraiser (AG).

The Real Estate Appraisal Certificate/Program fits into this student success goal because it will open the door for Citrus College students to pursue an exciting career in the growing real estate appraisal industry.
Over the last few years, Citrus College has gone from teaching only a couple of real estate courses to providing all the courses needed to sit for the California Department of Real Estate (DRE) sales and broker examinations. In addition, Citrus College now offers several skill awards and certificates in Real Estate. Last year Citrus College also added an A.S.Degree in Real Estate, which has received a favorable response from traditional and non-traditional students. The interest in this program has continued to grow over the last few years and the demand for these classes has been a determining factor for adding additional classes in Real Estate Appraisal.
