The Certificate of Career Preparation in Nail Technology prepares students to pass the Board of Barbering and Cosmetology State Board Manicuring exam, know basic knowledge of manicuring and pedicuring procedures and be successful in a salon or self-employed environment in the field of Nail Technology. Upon completion of the required courses with at least a āCā grade or better in each course, the student will be awarded the Certificate of Career Preparation, Nail Technology. To meet state requirements for testing, students must have a high school diploma or its equivalent or have completed 10th grade and passed an ability to benefit ATB and be at least 17 years old. Students must meet a minimum of 400 hours to complete the program.
Many past students and potential students have shown interest in a Nail Technology program as it is a more specialized program with a shorter time frame to complete. Many students would only like to get a certificate in Nail Technology.
1. Perform the Board of Barbering and Cosmetology approved customer safety and general disinfection/sanitation in the workplace.
2. Practice effective communication skills and professional appearance, and proper grooming.
Perform basic manipulative skills in the subject of manicuring, pedicuring and nail enhancements.
This two course 12 unit certificate of career preparation program will allow students to complete the Manicurist Certificate of Achievement in one semester with entry points at the beginning of each our fall and spring semesters. The Certificate of Career Preparation in Nail Technology prepares students to pass the Board of Barbering and Cosmetology State Board Manicuring exam.
