This program continues the development of skills in structural repair, as well as damage appraisal and collision repair management. Practical and advanced skills are also acquired in electrical systems and component repair. To earn a certificate students must complete all major course requirements with a grade of C or better At least 50% of the program must be completed at Cypress College. This certificate requires a total of 19 units.
Estimated 25 student completers annually. According to the LAOC LMI data, "In Los Angeles/Orange County, the number of jobs related to these occupations is projected to decrease by 8% through 2025. However, there will be nearly 600 job openings per year through 2025 due to retirements and workers leaving the field...therefore...the COE endorses this proposed program."
Develop entry-level skills and knowledge for employment in the automotive industry; i.e. an auto body repair facility, and in the insurance business.
Acquire increasingly technical levels of skills and knowledge to work safely in the lab/shop environment, produce quality products, provide quality service .
Develop the ability to become part of the Inter-Industry Conference on Auto Collision Repair (I-CAR) and the Automotive Detailers Association (ADA)
