This course is designed to introduce students to the principles of nondestructive inspection (NDI) and nondestructive testing (NDT). Non-destructive testing (NDT) is a testing and analysis technique used by the aerospace industry to evaluate the properties of a material, component, and structure for characteristic differences without causing damage to the aircraft structures. Inspection methods covered in this course are Eddy Current and Ultrasonic inspection. Classroom lecture and hands-on practice with NDI testing equipment, processes, and procedures.
Enrollment projection: 100 to 200 students per year.
Students who complete the certificate have enhanced employability in the field of aerospace manufacturing. They have enhanced promotional opportunities into quality assurance and inspection positions. The certificate will provide students with non-destructive inspection fundamentals and techniques to evaluate, inspect and troubleshoot complex inspection tasks.
Students must complete the following classes for the certificate:
Course | Title | Units | Year/Semester (Y1 or S1) |
---|---|---|---|
ANDI 110 | Non-Destructive Inspection: Visual Inspection, Dye Penetrant and Magnetic Particle Inspection | 4 | Y1 |
ANDI 115 | Non-Destructive Inspection: Eddy Current and Ultrasound Inspection | 10 | Y1 |
