The Airframe Maintenance Technology major provides general education and knowledge and skills required for entry level employment in airframe maintenance. The airframe maintenance training received at the CCSF Aeronautics Department is certified by the FAA, CFR Part 147. Upon successfully completing and passing (with at least a 70% score) all required subject areas associated with the airframe maintenance training, as well as completing and passing all General Education courses, the student will then qualify to receive the Airframe Maintenance Technology Certificate and Associate of Science and qualify to take their FAA exams. Once the graduating student passes all the required FAA exams, they are qualified to work in the aviation industry as a FAA Certified Airframe Technician.
Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this program, students will be able to:
• Analyze and differentiate the various airframe parts and components, and troubleshoot the related systems.
• Perform airframe conformity and airworthiness inspections of airframe systems and components.
• Identify and demonstrate proper aircraft maintenance procedures as per specified authorized references.
• Inspect, check and service landing gear position indicating and warning system.
• Inspect and repair sheet metal structures.
We anticipate approximately 10-15 completers per academic year.
This AS degree fits the goals of CCSF and the Airport center to prepare students to enter the workforce. The classes included in the Major are directly aligned with certificated programs to complete the FAA mandated curriculum and qualify to take the FAA exams and work as a FAA certified airframe technician.
