Training is designed to provide advanced skills for entrepreneurs or individuals interested in running a one-person office. Additional general education units are required for the AS degree. Students may earn more than one certificate along with the Associate in Science degree and are required to earn grades of "C" or better in all courses.
Within the last three years ('17-'18, '18-'19, '19-'20), the Business and Technology department has made an average of 22 awards for students pursuing Office Professional AS degrees in one emphasis area or another. The new One-Person Office emphasis is projected increase the total number of such awards by 20%within two years.
This program is considered Career Technical Education (CTE). The goal of the One-Person Office AS degree is for students to acquire fundamental skills for entrepreneurs or individuals interested in running a one-person office.
Student Learning Outcomes:
1. Use technology applications, office equipment, and software effectively in a professional setting.
2. Demonstrate key skills in order to effectively meet customer needs and provide outstanding customer service.
3. Apply emerging technologies to business and administrative processes to maximize efficiency and effectiveness.
The industries needing these skills include: entrepreneurs, business offices, CPA firms (support staff), construction (office staff), non-profit organizations (including churches), manufacturing firms (office staff), customer service in any industry.
