This certificate is awarded to those students who are successful in all written and skills testing for the Module III Basic Law Enforcement Course and, as a reserve officer may perform specified limited support duties. This certificate serves as the prerequisite for entry into Module II Basic Law Enforcement Course.
This 16 week program is offered twice a year, once in Fall and again in Spring with an anticipated average enrollment of 30 students per a term.
The goal of the Law Enforcement Module III Basic Course Certificate of Achievement is to
prepare students to meet the legal Level III requirements established by the Commission on
Peace Officers Standards and Training (POST). The primary objective of this certificate is for
students to complete the required training to be a Level III reserve officer. Level III reserve
officers may perform specified limited support duties, and other duties that are not likely to
result in physical arrests, while supervised in the accessible vicinity by a Level I reserve officer
or a full-time regular officer. Additionally, Level III reserve officers may transport prisoners
without immediate supervision.
