The Real Estate Salesperson Certificate of Achievement helps students to prepare for the California Salesperson licensing exam and enter the field of real estate.Minimum requirements to apply for the Salesperson Examination are: (1) age 18or older and (2) evidence of successful completion of twelve quarter units of college level courses in California Real Estate Principles, Real Estate Practice, and one elective. Students should note that a felony conviction may result in the denial of a Salesperson’s license. Students interested in careers in real estate should ensure that they check relevant websites for information about licensing requirements (including required coursework): the California Department of Real Estate (www.dre.ca.gov).
Approximately 10 students are projected to complete the certificate annually.

**The Real Estate program has run successfully for a number of years at Lake Tahoe Community College as an Employable Skills Certificate. It is recommended by adjunct faculty to add RES-161 California Real Estate Salesperson Exam Prep Course (4 units) to the current Real Estate Employable Skills Certificate (12units), and change it to a Certificate of Achievement. Adding this course will better prepare students to pass the exam course required to enter the field. At16 units, the three-course requirement plus one elective course, will meet the threshold for a low-unit Certificate of Achievement.
