The Marketing concentration focuses on markets, strategic planning, customer satisfaction, products, pricing, promotion and channels of distribution. The Marketing concentration prepares students for entry-level positions in marketing, sales, and/or advertising. The Associate in Science in Business with a concentration in Marketing is designed for the student seeking a career in marketing upon completion of the Associate Degree. This degree/concentration may also be appropriate for students planning to transfer to a four-year institution other than a California State University. Students intending to transfer should consult with a counselor to make sure that their education plan is consistent with this objective.
Annual completer numbers are expected to be 30 students combined between the Certificate of Achievement and the A.S. Degree based on market need.
Completion of this program will provide students with the theoretical and practical knowledge to pursue employment in a number of marketing fields.
Employment for the marketing occupational group is expected to increase by 9% between 2017 and 2022 in the Inland Empire/Desert Region. Nearly 17,000 job openings will be available over that timeframe.
The entry-level wage for each occupation in the middle-skill and above middle-skill categories are above the MIT Living Wage estimate of $12.30 per hour for a single adult.
Completion of this program requires successful completion of seven core business classes. Students also select one of two accounting courses and two additional business courses from a list of offerings. Standard GE and elective course requirements must also be completed to reach the total required units. The program is intended to be completed in 4 semesters.
