This certificate program is designed to train those individuals whose careers require knowledge and skills related to the creative techniques of both oral and written sales presentations, advertising, and marketing. Courses emphasize the tools used by marketers, the environmental forces affecting the marketing process, sales communication skills, the major components of modern advertising and promotion, marketing research, and advertising planning and strategy. All courses must be completed with a grade of “C” or better

The program provides students with the knowledge and skills necessary to obtain employment and to function effectively in entry-level marketing positions. Program completers will be able to effectively apply and utilize the marketing principles and techniques they have learned to market a business, product, or service.
To be awarded this certificate, students must complete all required coursework listed below with a grade of “C” or better. At least 3 units in an advanced course from the certificate must be completed at OCC. Substitutions or course equivalencies may be approved at the department’s discretion.
